Atlantic Superstore Each week our President pays a visit to Digby
Superstore, where Assistant Manager Terry Hancock has the store’s regular
contribution of dog food, cat food and cat litter all ready to go. With so
many animals to care for it is comforting to know that we can rely on
receiving this much needed help, every week, twelve months a year. Walmart, Digby Walmart may be new in town, but within months of opening Manager Pat Grant was getting right into the community spirit. Support for TLC was immediate and we are very grateful for the weekly donation of a large quantity of pet food and cat litter. With so many hungry mouths to feed their help is invaluable. Special thanks go to Manager Pat Grant, as well as Assistant Manager Craig Lewis, for organizing the project. Foodland Weymouth Larry and Valerie Veinot are staunch supporters of TLC
and suggested their store sponsor a cat and dog. To this end, they donate
a large bag of dog food and large bag of cat every month and display a
framed photo of their chosen pets in the store. Nova Scotia Power Nova Scotia Power's philosophy is to help their employees make a difference in the community where they live and work. They provide employees and retirees with an opportunity to apply for funds to assist them and the places where they volunteer with funding to help make their communities a better place to live and raise their families. Nova Scotia Power will also match any funds raised where an employee is involved. So if one of their employees were to help in a yard sale for example the money raised for the shelter is doubled! Through the efforts of a Nova Scotia Power employee and shelter volunteer, Robert Kelsey, the shelter was presented with a new lawn mower and gas trimmer. See below for full story. TRA Atlantic Foods, Middleton -2004 Out of the blue earlier this December, a call came from TRA Atlantic Foods in Middleton who wanted to donate a whole pallet load of pet food, cat litter, etc, even offering to deliver right to our door! We were very grateful for this generous gesture, which will certainly help to pull us through the winter. Special thanks to Amy Ross for co-ordinating everything, and to driver Kelvin Burbridge for his considerate assistance. Port Royal Animal Hospital Our grateful thanks to Jody and her team for their special efforts and support in helping us care for our animals. SPCA Moncton In the spirit of co-operation between animal welfare organizations, the SPCA in Moncton has certainly come up trumps! Responding immediately to our need for kitty litter they donated a huge amount not only of litter, but also dog treats. Three pallet loads in total! This was a wonderful gesture which will keep us well stocked for some time. Heartfelt thanks go to everyone at Moncton SPCA, with special mention to Dulcie Knee for initiating this mission and for Nanette for co-ordinating everything. And...how did we get the everything from Moncton to Digby? See below! Fundy Express Transport, Aylesford We are so very grateful to Lee Armstrong of Fundy Express Transport for making it all possible. He arranged a free of charge pick up from the SPCA in Moncton to his company's warehouse in Kentville, and from there to Weymouth which is just down the road from us. Thank you Lee and to everyone in your company for your generosity, and for playing such an important role in our continuing efforts on behalf of homeless and unwanted animals. Hillside Tack and Pet Shop, Meteghan - 2004 Ryan Theriault has been very busy selling calendars this past holiday season to help our shelter and his endeavor has proved to be a huge success. New Year’s Eve was like Christmas all over again for our little critters, when Ryan and his staff from the Hillside Tack and Pet Shop in Meehan visited the shelter laden with goodies. As a result of their ‘calendar sale’ fundraiser, they donated quantities of collars, leashes, cat food, dog food, blankets, brushes, dishes, toys.......Wow! A huge vote of thanks from us all Ryan. Leo’s Cafe & Gift Store Thanks go also to Paula Buxton of Leo's Cafe & Gift Store in Annapolis for donating some beautiful gift items to be used for fundraising. Paula is a good friend to TLC and her continuing support is much appreciated. Convergys - Cornwallis, N.S. Thank you to everyone on the Convergys Social Commitee for the recent donation of $231.50 raised from two bake sales. Also for your ongoing help in the way of fund-raising for the shelter, as well as donations of pet food and supplies. It's this kind of community support that keeps the shelter running and we are immensely grateful. QEII Health Sciences Center Our special thanks also to the staff of the MacKenzie Building at the QEII in Halifax for their continuing generous donations of food, bedding, toys and other supplies for the shelter. Annual Motorcycle Ride for Pets Sponsors A big thank you for supporting our

A big thank you to Grade 5 students at Digby Elementary for their recent donation to the shelter. Encouraged by teacher Peggy McAlpine, these youngsters worked to hard to collect all kinds of goodies from cat beds, scratching posts, food and toys for the cats, to food and treats for the dogs. A wonderful effort! Smith's Cove Running Club We would like to acknowledge the Smith's Cove Running Club for raising $106.60 for the shelter, as well as donating a large amount of pet food. Thank you all for your
support and we look forward to seeing you again next summer. Robert Kelsey Robert takes care of all the grass cutting and trimming at the shelter on a volunteer basis. Robert took advantage of funding provided by his employer and was able to provide the shelter with a brand new mower and whipper snipper. To quote Robert "Volunteering at the shelter has allowed Annette and I to teach our 11 year old son Alex the importance of giving something back to the community. Annette and I mow and Alex does the entire whipper snipping. On behalf of our family and Nova Scotia Power we are proud to provide the Shelter with a new lawn mower and gas trimmer to help care for the property"
