SPECIAL EVENTS

We are now in the midst of planning our first annual fundraising AUCTION, to be held on Tuesday August 5th at Digby Regional High School. The evening will start at 6.30 pm with a Silent Auction and Book Sale, followed by the Live Auction at 7.30 pm. All proceeds will go to the shelter to help with the rescue of homeless, abandoned and abused animals

If anyone wishes to donate new or hand crafted items for the Auction, or good used books for the Book Sale, please contact Linda Chalmers at the shelter at 902-245-2303, or email us at info@tlcshelter.com.

A meeting is planned on Friday May 9th at 10.00 am in the community meeting room at Digby Superstore - anyone interested in helping out with the auction and book sale is welcome to attend.

Special thanks to Ben Elms, Principal of Digby Regional High School, for waiving the usual booking fee and donating the school's auditorium for the evening.

Thank you to everyone who braved the torrential downpours and came out to generously support our Fundraiser on Saturday October 8th at Havelock Community Hall, which raised a grand total of $675.00. Volunteers Bob and Erma Carlson did a great job of organising the event and we very much appreciate the hard work of  the helpers who sold tickets, cooked hot dogs,
etc. We all enjoyed a great evening of country music by so many talented musicians. A big thank you also to Sobeys (Digby), as well as Foodland and Valufood in Weymouth for donating hot dogs, buns and pop.

Puppy Mills

You may see the following or something similar in your local newspaper or just tacked to a telephone pole alongside the road

"ARE YOU STUCK WITH A LITTER OF PUPPIES?"

Be advised that this is a common ruse used by puppy mill operators to get unwanted puppies as objects to sell for profit.

Don't be their supplier - Spay or neuter your dogs!

If you think you know of  a puppy mill in operation please advise your local animal shelter or animal welfare agency. You may also wish to check this
website for more information about the puppy mill problem in Canada:
